An API (Application Programming Interface) is “a set of subroutine definitions, protocols, and tools for building software and applications.” (Wikipedia)
In contrast to a user interface, which connects a computer to a person, an application programming interface connects computers or pieces of software to each other.
In 2006, Grey Wolf started the development of SX APIs for integration with SX.enterprise system. Over time, those APIs have grown and matured into over 150 APIs in the “pool.”
The architecture for Grey Wolf’s APIs is consistent across all ERP systems. A piece of software loaded on the SX enterprise system with access to that software from the Grey Wolf Connector server in our secure datacenter.
While there are different APIs for each ERP, the web services are standardized across all subscription users. This ensures consistent results from a standard environment. In the case of custom ERP modifications,
Grey Wolf is able to create custom APIs that are then isolated from the standard environment. This ensures consistency while supporting unique customer requirements.
SX Connector is a web service that is consumed by your code or by a Grey Wolf application.
The complete listing of the Web Services Description Language (WSDL), Extensible Markup Language (XML) or JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) definitions are below.
APIs define the methods and data structures for software interaction, while web services are a specific type of API that works over a network (usually HTTP).
Grey Wolf installs a small piece of software on the ERP server (or a server with SQL access). This software connects securely to the Grey Wolf Connector server to manage the APIs and web services.
Yes, they can! Grey Wolf’s SX Connector and Infor’s API run independently. Since Grey Wolf operates as its own application server.
Yes. Grey Wolf creates custom APIs when needed. These are isolated from the standardized set to preserve consistency across customers.
Yes, unless custom APIs are required. The standard environment is shared by all subscribers to ensure uniform results and simpler support.
Yes. Our architecture is designed to work across different types of ERP systems (on-prem, hosted, cloud), supporting various technical configurations.
Use the Lite version API Connector for any Grey Wolf application (e.g., Partner Connect, Keystone). Use the Full version for any applications that are third-party or custom in-house. Essentially, you will need the Full Version for anything but Grey Wolf applications.
We manage all API updates centrally through the Grey Wolf server in our secure datacenter. Customers using on-prem ERP systems (SX, P21) do not need to update anything locally unless there is a change to the Connector software itself.

In 2016, Grey Wolf started the development of P21 APIs for integration with the Prophet 21 system. Over time, those APIs have grown and matured into over 90 APIs in the “pool.”
Prophet 21 in an on-premise environment allows Grey Wolf to install our own APIs to create the integration.
The customer installable download puts a small set of files on the P21 server (or another server with SQL access) that the Grey Wolf web services will communicate with to make the connections.
P21 Connector is a web service that is consumed by your code or by a Grey Wolf application.

Grey Wolf built the P21 Connector using their own APIs. The P21 Cloud Connector relies on Epicor’s Middleware Server APIs.

Web Services are “a software system designed to support interoperable machine-to-machine interaction over a network.” (W3C). They have even been called Web API by some.
It has an interface described in a machine-processable format (specifically WSDL).
In 2019, Grey Wolf started the development of CSD Connector for integration with CloudSuite Distribution. Over time, those Web Services have grown and matured into over 50 connections in the “pool.”
CloudSuite Distribution is an Infor hosted ERP. Since Infor does not allow any third party software on their hosted server, Grey Wolf is required to use Infor’s ION APIs. The CSD Web Services provided by Grey Wolf become the interface to those APIs.
